1978 - Purchase of a mini-computer

In February 1978 the Board agreed to spend $25,325 purchasing a mini-computer to replace the Burrough’s L5000 mini-computer which had cost $29,000 in 1972. The mini-computer would punch data tapes that would be sent to an Auckland bureau where they would be processed into electricity accounts and then returned to Whakatāne.
