1927 - Power supply switched on

Pump Shed on the Rangitaiki Plains

In 1927 the first section of the Rangitaiki “demonstration” was completed, and a power supply from the borough MED was switched on, on 19 October.

The “demonstration” included milking machines, water heaters and lighting, and it was anticipated that two ranges and a pump would also be added.

This prompted the board to set a tariff for drainage and water supply pumps at £3 per annum for up to ½ hp and £6 over ½ hp per annum. Timer switches were also recommended.
