1907 - Picturesque Township

The Weekly Press covered the picturesque township of Whakatāne in September 1907.

“Many of the natural features of Whakatāne are romantic and picturesque. A little township is situated on a flat, and close behind the houses high cliffs rise sheer to a considerable altitude. Down the cliff and close behind the accommodation house streams a very pretty waterfall of considerable power, which is of great value to the town, providing a ready-made water supply and power for electric light and for the working of mills.”
